Interesting article!

I'm familiar with some of the concepts you mentioned through other lenses, with Naval Ravikant's "Specific Knowledge" or Ash Ali's "Unfair Advantage"

However what stood out to me was your intentionality about it:

> So I’ve continued to build my life by making decisions based on what would give me the most Identity Capital.

But then the experiences you mentioned didn't necessarily seem to be directly intentional. You couldn't have known that doing the robotics page would lead to you also doing a fashion page later on. But you could have known that doing something new could be useful in the future.

So maybe it sounds like it is moreso about accumulating experiences than it is about what they will specifically lead to?

The reason why I'm asking is because I'm just curious if the intentionality here actually makes a difference.

It sounds like you are naturally a hard working, curious person who loves doing all these different activities and broadening your horizon. So I'm just wondering, even if you didn't have this "Identity Capital" concept to justify doing those things, do you really need the justification in order to do the act? Or would you still be doing them anyways?

For me personally, if I look back at my own life, I see the concept of "Identity Capital" moreso as a retrospective thing that comes from being myself. The things that have given the most capital, were the things were I was least trying to actually accumulate anything. I was just being myself and not even necessarily overexerting myself, rather it just happened and the fruits showed themselves on their own time.

Maybe its different for you, I just find that when you are truly yourself, you don't have time to be chasing anything because you are too busy living in the moment.

Let me know if you agree or disagree!
